Bob Reasso - Executive Director and Head Coach of Men’s Soccer
Bob Reasso is one of the most decorated and respected figures in American collegiate soccer history. With a career spanning decades as a premier head coach, player, and collegiate administrator, Reasso has left an indelible mark on the sport. A two-time NCAA National Coach of the Year, he is officially recognized as one of the 50 Greatest Coaches in New Jersey Sports History—an honor encompassing every level of athletics, from high school to the professional ranks.
Over his historic coaching tenure, Reasso compiled an extraordinary all-time NCAA college coaching record of 438-209-79, leading his teams to 16 NCAA Tournament appearances, eight Elite Eight finishes, four Final Four appearances, and a national title.
The Rutgers University Era (1981–2010)
Reasso’s defining legacy began at Rutgers University, where he served as the head men’s soccer coach for 29 illustrious years. Under his guidance, the Scarlet Knights became a perennial national powerhouse, achieving a program-record 351-183-71 under his watch.
During nearly three decades on the sidelines at Rutgers, Reasso directed the program to:
- 13 NCAA Tournament appearances.
- Three NCAA Final Four appearances, including a historic run to the 1990 NCAA Division I National Championship game.
- Eight Conference Championships across the Atlantic 10 and Big East configurations.
His peerless leadership earned him four NCAA Regional Coach of the Year Awards, alongside numerous Atlantic 10 and Big East Coach of the Year honors. His loyalty and unmatched contributions to the university ultimately earned him induction into both the Rutgers Athletics Hall of Fame and the prestigious Loyal Sons of Rutgers.
Championship Glory at Pfeiffer University
Following his legendary run in Division I, Reasso returned to his alma mater, Pfeiffer University, where he authored one of the most dominant chapters in NCAA Division II soccer history. In just four seasons at the helm, Reasso orchestrated a stunning 71-16-3 record. The pinnacle of his coaching career arrived in 2015, when he led the Pfeiffer Falcons to an undefeated 25-0 record and the NCAA Division II National Championship.
His tenure at Pfeiffer was defined by absolute regional supremacy:
- Three-time Conference Carolinas Tournament Champion.
- Two-time Conference Carolinas Regular-Season Champion, registering completely undefeated conference campaigns in both seasons.
- Three-time Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year.
- Two-time Regional Coach of the Year.
Reasso’s deep connection to Pfeiffer stretches back to his own collegiate playing days. As a student-athlete for the Falcons, he was a three-year varsity starter, team captain, and an NAIA All-Region and All-South selection—achievements that paved the way for his eventual induction into the Pfeiffer University Sports Hall of Fame.
Player Development and Global Administration.
Beyond the trophies, Reasso is widely celebrated as an elite developer of talent. He has mentored 19 All-Americans and propelled over 90 of his players into the professional ranks, including 24 athletes who advanced to Major League Soccer (MLS) and top-tier global leagues.
Reasso’s passion for collegiate sports also translated into highly successful chapters in athletic administration, where he served as the Director of Athletics at three distinct institutions:
- Husson University.
- Pfeiffer University, where he served as Vice President of Athletics.
- The American University in Cairo, Egypt, where he uniquely expanded his portfolio by coaching both the men’s and women’s soccer teams.
